Mission It has always been the endeavour of the Monks of the Ramakrishna Order to SILENTLY through example and action impact
youngsters with the dreams that Swami Vivekananda had, for the progress our Country. Observing the Monks live the values and growing up in a disciplined environment, these youngsters have graduated in their life to become responsible and eminent citizens making significant contributions to the society they live in.

OverviewSwami Shivananda Boys Residential Home is a special hostel for select rural poor boys seeking to live values even as they pursue their studies.It will initially accommodate about 25 students and will have all the facilities for their boarding, lodging and study. An elderly warden, working together with the monks and accomplished in caring for the students, will oversee their stay and activities.

Vidyarthi Homa Conducted
Resident Students of the Student's Home participated in the first Vidyarthi Homa on Aug 12th 2007.

They took vows of being a good student focused on cultivating the right values and on the education
that they are pursuing.

Admission PolicyBeing the wider and progressive change agents in their communities, the admissions to the student's home is restricted to healthy rural boys of Rayalaseema region. Students will be selected on merit cum means basis and they will study in nearby high schools as day scholars. This home is restricted to students of classes 8, 9 & 10 studying in nearby higher secondary schools only. Candidates are selected after a written test followed by a personal interview.
General Information
No fee is charged. This is a free student's Home. We appreciate sponsorships and scholarships from generous devotees for the operational expenses of the Students home. The candidates stay for a period of three years and move over after their secondary school examination. They will participate in all activities undertaken by the Ramakrishna Math and Mission as appropriate and in tune with their personality development.

Operational Plans The Swami Shivananda Student's Home building construction completion and inauguration is scheduled for either middle of 2007 or early 2008 - preferably on Sri Ramakrishna's birthday. The admission of the first batch of students will start concurrently then.

An Appeal
We request all devotees of Sri Ramakrishna to contribute liberally to complete the construction of this student's home. Contributors of above Rs 10,000/- will be displayed in a marble plaque in an appropriate place in the building. Donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax act.
